Top 5 Upcoming Video Games Announced At E3

E3 has just finished up, and with it, many great games have been announced and new gameplay has been shown. Many different studios, ranging from Santa Monica Studio to Nintendo have all showcased their newest projects, and have left many fans excited for many new releases. E3 has brought many surprises, so here is our list for the top 5 games announced at E3.

  1. God of War

Way back in 2005, Santa Monica Studio created the gore-filled God of War on the PlayStation 3. God of War, set in an alternate version of ancient Greece, follows Kratos, an Olympian warrior, who is on a revenge filled quest against all of the Greek gods after they all pretty much screwed him over. The game had another 6 titles later launched, including a mobile game and two prequels. Now, Santa Monica Studio is bringing a new piece to Kratos’ story. The new God of War, still called God of War, is going to follow the story of Kratos as a father, trying to teach his son the ways of a warrior. The new God of War is also going to based around Norse mythology instead of the traditional Greek myths, so it will be full of trolls and dragons, and Kratos might even get into Valhalla at one point. This game promises the great action that fans adore from God of War, along with a great story to back it up. God of War will release sometime in 2018.

  1. South Park: The Fractured But Whole

The characters of South Park are back for another adventure in South Park: The Fractured But Whole, all about superheroes. Knowing South Park, there will probably be tons of jokes towards Marvel and DC alike. The Fractured But Whole is bringing similar gameplay as the first game, with an interesting and funny take on turn-based combat. South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a great example of an RPG game that does not have to difficult to be fun. This game is bringing the same mature, yet childish charm that the show is based off of, so it will also probably be full of many well-written jokes. South Park:The Fractured But Whole will release on October 17.2017.

  1. Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey is the next great installation for Mario from the great minds at Nintendo. It will be a massive 3D platformer, similar to Super Mario 64, but with a much greater amount of worlds to explore and many great gameplay mechanics along with it. Super Mario Odyssey starts in the huge New Donk City, where (spoiler alert) Bowser kidnaps Peach yet again. Mario must use his jumping prowess, along with the help of his magical hat named Cappy, to traverse many unique lands. Along his journey, he will meet many enemies, from the classic Goomba to some new white ghosts that also wear hats similar to Mario. Super Mario Odyssey also shows Mario’s new exciting ability to “possess” almost any enemy in the game. Gameplay for the game shows Mario possessing everything from a Bullet Bill to traverse the map in the air to a tank, shooting flying targets from the sky. With this new ability, you are able to complete levels in many different ways, allowing to a brand new freedom that Mario games have never been exposed to before. Super Mario Odyssey will release on October 27, 2017.

  1. Spiderman PS4

Spiderman PS4 (an official title has not been released yet) is a game that is being developed by Insomniac Games, the creators of Ratchet & Clank. Spiderman PS4 is promising to bring all of the great aspects from other great Spiderman games, such as web-swinging around New York City and fluid combat, and improve greatly on them for an amazing game. It will also fill both kids and adults with the nostalgia of seeing Spiderman fighting crime in New York City, and will also allow them to do it themselves. Spiderman PS4 promises a great playing experience, placing you in a massive and detailed replication of New York City. We are excited to see what Insomniac Games has to offer for this great looking gameplay. SpiderMan PS4 is set to release sometime in 2018.

  1. Splatoon 2

Nintendo brought the first Splatoon installment back in 2015 on the Wii U. Now, Nintendo is bringing Splatoon 2 to their wildly successful new console, the Nintendo Switch. Splatoon brought a fresh new take on the traditional, more violent first-person shooters, with the players playing as half-squid and half-human creatures called inklings. The game also replaced all of the violence of first-person shooters with the players shooting ink at each other and trying to cover as much of the decorative maps with their team’s color of ink. The Splatoon franchise brings with it the creativity and great nostalgic polish that Nintendo excels in. Splatoon 2 promises exciting new weapons, classes, customization, maps, game modes, and a new single player campaign for everyone to enjoy. Splatoon 2 also plans to bring the same action the first game brought, along with many great additions to the gameplay that we have seen in an open beta Nintendo released. Splatoon 2 is set to release on July 21, 2017.
