The Samsung Galaxy S9 has come out, but is this model really worth your time and money?
Most critics have agreed that the phone is pretty much a slightly upgraded Samsung Galaxy S8. The bezels on the sides of the screen are slightly smaller on the S9 than the S8. If you go look at pictures of it, they are pretty much identical. On the other hand, most of the physical features of the S8 is still present on the S9. Headphone jack and the facial recognition are still present, including the highly touted water resistance. The phone runs on a Snapdragon 845 processor, which is barely an upgrade from the previous Snapdragon 835. Android has the same feeling on both phones, and nothing has been done to the battery life.
Samsung has notably altered the placement of the fingerprint sensor, due to peoples’ complaints that on the S8, it was too close to the camera and was smearing the lenses. Also, the camera now has two main settings for dim and bright environments. But most people would agree that the camera is not really much of an upgrade either.
At a starting price of $719.99 at launch, the S9 is more pricey compared to the starting price of the S8, and that should be a considering factor for would be buyers. The Galaxy S8 is a proven phone and one of the best still, consider that one over this new model.
